The South of France has always been one of my favourite European holiday destinations. Somewhere so close to home but feels like a million miles away. I can get lost wandering the old fashioned rues, exploring the small villages and towns. I love that I can discover somewhere new every time I visit. It’s got that unique quality of having an amazing provenance, yet in many ways feels ahead of the times. It’s iconic history is second to none, when they say ‘if these walls could talk’, its the walls here on the French Riviera that you wish could.
There’s simply so much to see and do on this Mediterranean costal jewel of France. It would be too hard for me to pinpoint one must-go location or one must-do event. However I recently spent some inspiring time in Eze, a picturesque mountaintop village steeped in history. It’s conveniently situated between Nice and Monaco. So whether you are arriving by jet or by yacht, you don’t have to travel far to reach this little piece of heaven. Both journeys ensure a spectacular scenic ride with unparalleled jaw dropping views of the sea as you ascend the mountain.

Eze has that Games of Thrones quality to it. You feel as if you are starring in your own little episode as you float around the uneven streets in your silk Melissa Odabash kaftan. There’s plenty of exploring here for those who enjoy wandering through the narrow passageways and under low archways. You could easily spend the morning getting happily lost in it all. Thankfully you are never too far away from a charming gift shop or a delightful little cafe offering delicious homemade french pastries.
I find it incredibly soothing being by the sea. It’s wonderfully clear here, and of that typical shade of azur that can tempt you in. Most are pebble beaches, although they are smooth and small, so easy underfoot. The restaurants and beach bars serve the freshest of seafood. Also the well renowned party reputation of the beach clubs doesn’t disappoint. There’s something for everyone at this most glamorous southeastern beach resorts.
The views over the Mediterranean Sea are breathtaking. Possibly some of the most Instagram worth vistas I’ve ever seen. As the golden sun kisses the sea I could sit for hours, sipping a cold glass of Rose, admiring the passing yachts and cruise ships. Such peace and tranquility, I get totally absorbed in to the French way of life. After all The Riviera is all about the good life.
