My Top Picks From Paris FW19

Style  /   /  By Vicky Lee

Je t’aime Paris! As soon as I arrive in this effervescent city I instantly feel sexier, chicer and more cultured! I have perfected my ‘s’il vous plait’ and of course my ‘merci’, so much so you’d be forgiven for thinking I’m a local! As the final shows of this amazing fashion month draw to a close Paris gave me all sorts of vibrant, bright and exciting trends. I love to be surprised by new fashions. Although you just can’t beat some classic Parisienne styles. Designers have given us both this season, we are spoilt for choice!

1. Emerald Green Goddess

Bag & Sunnies from Aspinal, Turban by Katrina Finch

Paris showcased a wonderfully vibrant palette of colours. I saw lots of primary colours, many royal blues and pillarbox reds. My favourite has to be this beautiful emerald green. Although all shades of green appeared on the runways. We even saw lime green tweed two pieces at Chanel. I suggest updating your wardrobe with some gorgeous green items. You don’t need to go head to toe but maybe for a fun change swap your normal white shirt for this green leopard print one.

2. An Officer and a Gentleman

Blazer by Balmain

I love a classic blazer. Its simple, stylish and completely timeless. I feel you can team a blazer with almost anything. There are not just for the business world. It can look super chic with just a plain white tee and jeans. Throw one over a cute cocktail dress for an up to date fashion fix. If you only ever buy one blazer, invest in this officer style blazer. I promise you won’t look back. I love wearing this chic style, it really finishes off any outfit. Many designers have favoured this look from Balmain to Ralph Lauren.

3. Rock n Roll Chic

Outfit by Faith Connexion

I love how a new look can make you feel like a different person. It’s fun to play around with fashion and push your own boundaries. The rock n roll chic trend allows you to bend the rules and  try something a little different to the norm. Thigh high boots and mini dresses are key to nailing this look. Also try super skinny leather trousers and ripped denim. So apply that thick black kohl smokey eye and become the muse of a rock star!

4. A True Romantic at Heart

Dress by Faith Connexion

How amazing is this dress? If only I could get away with wearing this every day. This romantic style has been popular with designers this fashion season. Think beautiful hi-low hems that swish, wonderful ruffles and Shakespeare sleeves. I think this look works for almost any occasion. Keep it chic for day and then go all out for all for the evening.

5. Panic at the Disco

Sequin two piece by Deborah Lyons

I love a little glitz here and there! I mean what girl doesn’t? So the sequin trend from last season is remaining strong as ever. This means it’s perfectly acceptable to wear sequins day or night. If you feel like this would be too much then simply keep your best sequin dress for cocktails with the girls! Try and add some gentle sequins in to your daytime outfits with some bedazzled accessories.

6. Pretty in Pastels

Handbag by Delvaux

The easiest way to update your wardrobe is with accessories. I’m absolutely loving all the pretty pastels shades that designers are favouring at the moment. I adore anything in a feminine hue and a perfectly pink handbag is right up my street. I think the right accessory can pull an outfit together, so pick out different colours and play match up. With all the pastels out there I’m sure you’ll be spoilt for choice!

7. Notice Me Shoulders

Dress by Faith Connexion

Who doesn’t like making an entrance? This fashion trend is just the ticket! Exaggerated shoulders have been on and off the runways for a couple of years now. However Paris showed us that it was all about letting the shoulders be the focal point. Louis Vuitton dressed models with ruffled shoulders so high they nearly reached their chins! I think this is a great look for a party event, adding a fun twist to the classic LBD.

8. Pretty in Print

I saw some many wonderful prints on and off the runways in Paris. There was an absolute plethora of prints showcased by designers. Many using textured materials to give outfits different feels. Some of the main prints I saw were tie-dye, abstract floral and of course animal print. Graphic and branded prints were also really popular with designers. I think to nail this trend choose prints that can coordinate with each other such as this dress and belted jacket combination.

9. Red Alert

Outfit by Faith Connexion

My absolute go-to colour is always red. I just love it! I am always so pleased when it becomes a feature in the collections. The Parisienne runways were a wash with vibrant reds in all hues. Update your wardrobe for next season with red accents. Why not replace your normal black pieces with red ones. For example swap your LBD with a little red dress for an instant fresh fashionable look. I also love this combination look that I saw featured at Balmain. This means taking the same dress and jacket combo. Such a chic and effortless style.
