The only and considerably most glamorous way to start off a new year is at Paris Haute Couture Week. It’s a truly magical week showcasing the most beautiful, and sometimes innovative, designs each atelier can muster – the most intricate hand stitched embroidery and beading using only the highest quality of materials. However its not only Kaia Gerber and Bella Hadid that get to cause a stir on the catwalks, there’s an emerging new set of fashionistas creating a buzz of all of our own in what is known as fashion week ‘street style’. As the fashion pack descend on Paris and we pound those famous paved streets and it becomes our very own catwalk. Here are 10 of my most favourite looks from the week;

Statement coat

This stunning pink over-coat by Theory is an absolute outfit game changer. I encourage every fashionista to embrace the statement coat this year, the bolder the better. Trouser suits are always effortlessly chic and this beige one from Theory is perfect for either dressing up or down. I’ve worn it smart with a black polo neck and heels here, however team it with a white t shirt and trainers and you’ve got a great about town look.

Puff sleeve blouse

So one of the best things to come out of the 80s is the puff sleeve and thankfully we are seeing this as one of the biggest trends for 2018. It’s a great little playful twist on a classic shirt. This beautiful blush one is from Stine Goya. Pastel shades are very easy to wear and compliment every skin tone but if the powder puff blush blouse is all a little too girly for you then add some statement yellow fringed earrings and these checked trousers by Baum Und Pferdgarten. I feel like this balances out the ultra feminine blouse but still lets it take centre stage.

Checked trousers

It’d be rude not to wear a beret in Paris right? Well does this baker boy still count? A hat is a great way of transforming a simple outfit into something quite special. If your hair is long then style it in a low bun or French plait, you want to create a sleek silhouette. I love this androgynous luxe look, just enough sexiness for the day. Sometimes we might feel like black is reserved for the evening but this sultry shirt from Shu Shu Tong teamed with these Baum Und Pferdgarten checked trousers is just perfect for day to night dressing. The cute frilled hem adds a touch of playful femininity and highlights the lovely lace up details of these Jimmy Choos.

Monochrome knit

When you find the perfect knit it’s like a little personal victory and this monochrome one from Oui ticks every box. There’s just so many ways that this knit can be worn, I just love it. I teamed mine with a bluish green midi skirt and sexy sling backs by Jimmy Choo. This knit will take you from a morning stroll with the doggies in the park, a business lunch, cocktails with the girls and everything in between. Monochrome is just a staple fashion look so you don’t have to worry about it coming in and out of fashion. We’ve just seen Victoria Beckham use it in her SS18 show and her collection are always the epitome of the ‘effortless chic’ look.

Silk kimono wrap dress

Not going to lie, this is a tricky look to pull off but one that comes with plenty of fashion points if you get it right! You don’t want it to look too busy so keep accessories to a minimum and let the dress do all the talking. This stunning silk kimono wrap dress by Stine Goya is so beautifully made and a joy to wear, it’s the jeans that just give it that funky edge. The contrasting colour to the dress also helps to elongate the leg. Printed dress as always a spring summer staple, and this kimono style is incredibly flattering. Wear it with a simple wedge for a garden party or strappy heel for an elegant dinner.

Green ruffle one shoulder knit

Green is the colour of life, symbolising growth and harmony. So its no wonder I felt so at ease in this outfit, and not only thanks to the sport luxe feel of these tracksuit trousers by Baum Und Pferdgarten. Its such a simple look with the white pearl beret creating that quintessential Parisian style. The beautiful pearl detail replicating the exquisite caviar beading work seen on the catwalks of Rodarte. The green ruffle one shoulder jumper echoes the French garden scence that was created at Chanel. Such a beautiful clean look, I love it.

Blazer style wrap dress

This statement blazer style Rixo dress needs no embellishment, a cute shoe and a classic Chanel and you’re good to go. However wear the dress over skinny jeans and a black polo neck and you’ve unleashed its alter ego. Simply perfect for nearly every occasion, just remember to add some big earrings. I’ve gone for some simple black hoops however there’s so many exciting earring options at the moment it’s hard to choose. Going out with out earrings these days is like leaving home without your phone! Céline had their models wearing huge diamante ones, Balenciaga showcased some very colourful ones and Christopher Kane favoured the oversized hoop! So have fun with it!

Teddy bear coat

This has to be the comfiest and cutest trend to ever hit the fashion scene! This is the coat that everyone is going to be wearing this year, let me introduce you to the teddy bear coat. This one is by Shu Shu Tong and is super cosy and perfect for those chilly spring days. I’ve just layered mine on the top of this deliciously zesty lime green dress by Marc Cain and white blouse by Zadig & Voltaire. This dress is a strong fashion statement and certainly packs a punch! Now let’s all take a moment to fully take in these playful blue suede shoes by Alexander White. We all know how a good pair of shoes can instantly change your mood and these ones are sure to brighten anyone’s day! Alexander White designs his shoes in London and then they beautifully hand crafted in the outskirts of Florence, Italy. Simply stunning and such fun to wear!

Orange leather

Didn’t you know orange is the new black?! Well maybe not black but fashionistas are hailing orange the new ‘millennial pink’. We’ve seen it feature on the catwalks of Tom ford and Calvin Klein, however its Rhianna’s Fenty Puma that stamped its confirmation of a must-have Spring/Summer 18 colour trend. Don’t be afraid to use this colour head to toe as well, this leather trouser suit by Eudon Choi is all about urban chic. Teamed with an Eudon Choi asymmetric blue and white striped shirt and some chunky heeled boots to give it some edge. Complete the fresh and futuristic look with these gold geometric earrings.

Crystal choker

Over the past few seasons we’ve seen a real breakthrough jewellery fashion trend and that’s the choker. It’s still prominent on the catwalks, with some designers also layering the choker with 2 or 3 more delicate chains. I’ve gone bold with this chunky crystal one worn with these wide leg jeans and a beautiful red silk blouse from Rixo. The designers at Rixo always bring distinctively British and vintage inspired pieces to market, using delicate silk fabrics and vibrant colours. The stunning printed fabrics showcase patterns that have been hand painted in the London studio of Rixo. Enjoy wearing this piece of artwork for many seasons to come!
