purpletale 5 steps to lovely skin

Travelling is one of my biggest passions in life and I never miss an opportunity to jump on a plane, whether it is to a new exciting destination or a familiar place that has captured my heart. However, streamlining my suitcase and fitting my 10 step Korean skincare routine into a small carry-on bag is always extremely challenging. Leaving half of my lotions and potions at home is simply not an option because it would mean sacrificing the health and beauty of my skin, something I’m not willing to do.

In the past, I got around the problem by decanting my trusted staples into tiny, travel-friendly bottles and jars but it’s not a solution that ever truly satisfied me because the risk of spillage was always around the corner. So I was absolutely thrilled to discover Purpletale 5 Steps To Lovely Skin, a 5 step skincare routine neatly housed in one lightweight, flight-friendly packet.

The five steps, which include a foam cleanser, an ampoule, a sheet mask, a facial cream and a neck cream are all carefully numbered on the packaging, taking the confusion out of which product goes first. Needless to say, the first step is cleansing the skin with a foaming cleanser to remove all traces of impurities from the face. This foaming cleanser has a white, creamy texture that foams well when it comes in contact with water. It’s very gentle on the skin and leaves my face not only perfectly clean but also velvety soft.

The next step is ampoule, a Korean skincare product that contains an exceptionally high concentration of active ingredients to fight dehydration and other skincare concerns. This particular ampoule is designed to deeply hydrate the skin, a feat it performs incredibly well thanks to glycerin and sodium hyaluronate, two humectants that draw water from the environment into the skin. On top of it, the ampoule – just like all the other products in this packet – is infused with a cocktail of peptides with collagen-boosting and skin-firming properties that can prevent both wrinkles and sagging of the skin. The ampoule is very lightweight and sinks immediately into my skin, leaving it softer, smoother and a tad firmer.

The third step in this skincare ritual is the thin bio-cellulose sheet mask, which is divided into two parts – one for the top half of the face and the other for the bottom half of the face – to make application easier. The essence it is soaked in feels very refreshing on my skin and is packed with powerful anti-aging peptides and ginsenosides, the active ingredients that give ginseng its collagen-boosting and anti-inflammatory properties. Ginsenosides are well-known in Korea for their abilities to firm skin, prevent wrinkles and soothe irritations, giving skin a younger-looking appearance. When I take the mask off 15 minutes later, my skin has considerably softened and taken on a radiant glow.

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you are already familiar with step four, Ode To Hydration Facial Cream. Available to buy separately, it’s the most hydrating facial moisturizer I’ve ever tried. Its heavy-duty formulas feels incredibly lightweight on my skin, absorbs quickly and keeps it moisturized all night long. Like the sheet mask, it’s packed with anti-aging peptides and ginsenosides to prevent premature aging but it is further enriched with niacinamide, a form of vitamin B3 that also soothes irritations, hydrates skin and reduces the appearance of wrinkles and dark spots. In short, it’s a powerful anti-aging treatment that keeps skin healthy and younger-looking.

The final step is the Once Upon A Neck Cream, another product that’s become a staple in my skincare routine. The neck is an area that ages faster than the face because it is constantly exposed to the elements yet it rarely receives the care and attention it so desperately needs. This cream, which has a luxurious texture, features sodium hyaluronate to deeply hydrate it and a bunch of peptides to prevent the skin from sagging prematurely. Not only it leaves my neck soft and smooth for hours but it also keeps it looking younger for longer.

The whole routine took me only around 20 minutes to do and left my skin feeling softer and looking younger. It is also very easy to use and extremely travel-friendly. I will definitely pack a few sheets in my suitcase every time I head off on my travels.
