Dry, cracked hands are a common winter complaint. Between the harsh winds, the drying indoor heating and the hot showers to warm yourself up in the morning, your skin is slowly stripped bare of its all its natural moisture. The hands have particularly it bad because, unlike the rest of your body, they are continually exposed to the elements.

The key to helping your mittens survive the cold season unscathed is a good hand cream that keeps their moisture levels up. Tony Moly Magic Food Banana Hand Milk does the job very well – not to mention, it is the cutest hand cream I’ve ever tried! Not only the cream is packaged in a banana-shaped tube, but it also smells just like a real banana, a feat that makes me crave this tropical fruit every time I apply it.

Needless to say, banana extract is one of the key moisturizing ingredients of this formula, which is also enriched with shea butter and coconut oil. Shea butter and coconut oil are two of the most moisturizing ingredients used in skincare, being able to create a protective shield on the skin that seals moisture in. Banana extract goes a step further: it is rich in antioxidants that help skin fight the free radicals that cause premature aging.

Although Tony Moly Magic Food Banana Hand Milk is rich in oils and butters, its texture is fairly lightweight, spreads easily onto my skin and absorbs almost immediately without leaving any greasy residue behind. After every use, my hands are softer and smoother but the effects last only for a few hours. For this reason, I keep it in my bag and take it out whenever my hands need a bit of nourishing on-the-go.

While I find this hand cream does a wonderful job at preventing dry and cracked winter hands, it is simply not moisturizing enough to heal the damage once it has occurred. I wouldn’t call this a flaw because Korean skincare products, just like the women who use them, are more focused on prevention that cure. If you take proper care of your skin in the first place, you’ll never have to deal with winter woes again!
