What To Wear This Winter

Style  /   /  By Vicky Lee

Hot chocolate with marshmallows, roaring fires and snowy scenes are all winter time favourites! It’s such a cosy time of year when you get the chance to really dress the part. The colder temperatures lend themselves perfectly for layering, luxurious fabrics and extra accessories. I love to embrace all the cosy knits and boots while I can. Before we know it the warmer months will be upon us. Take a look at some of my most favourite winter looks.

I think green is a wonderful colour all year round but it really comes in to its own during winter. I love this deep luscious green tone. It makes me think of beautiful Christmas trees, I can almost smell the pine! I just adore this satin wrap dress. The bow detail is just gorgeous and so on trend at the moment. I love this dress styled casual with boots, however I can just imagine it with some strappy heels and some gold jewellery for a night out.

The colder months are the perfect excuse to wear plusher fabrics and velvet is the most sumptuous of them all. I love the elegance and richness that velvet portrays. I think it looks amazing in any colour, although darker shades or a simple black is my favourite. It’s unusual softness and appearance means historically it has often been associated with royalty. So dress up in a beautiful velvet gown to feel like a queen for the night!

A beautiful chunky knit should be a staple piece in any winter wardrobe. Although this one is less ‘chunky’ its a cashmere blend ensuring all of the warmth without the bulk. I love the high neck and the unusual balloon sleeves. They add a little something extra, and much more fun than a regular polo neck jumper. Teamed up with a flirty floral skirt and heels I think it creates a gorgeous feminine silhouette. However this knit would look perfect with some jeans and biker boots for a more casual look.

The chilly days won’t stop me! I love this mini dress inspired by the swinging sixties. I think whatever the weather you should wear what makes you feel happy and comfortable. If you would feel the cold then there are plenty of amazing patterned or plain tights available. This style of dress works well with knee high or even thigh high boots. This is my winter go-to party outfit!

Tweed Suit by Beulah

I feel like I’m always wearing trousers in the winter so as an alternative I love to wear culottes and create that full skirt effect. This tweed suit in a jewel blue shade is everything! I love the simplicity and elegance of a two piece. I think there’s so many ways of wearing suits and it can lend itself to almost any occasion. I added a wide belt to cinch in the waist to create that ultimate feminine silhouette.

I adore this gold star devore maxi dress. It’s a really show-stopping outfit for those winter events. I teamed it with some gorgeous golden accessories to accentuate this glistening gown. The sheer sleeves provide a gentle coverage, while the plunging neckline creates a sexy vibe.

Jumpsuit by Beulah

Boho chic is not just for the summer months. The classic seventies festival vibe is the newest trend to be wearing these winter months. I love embracing this free-spirited fashion with this velvet jumpsuit and turban styled silk scarf. I think this outfit would take you from lunch with the girls to a glamorous dinner date.
