Facial oils are one of the most misunderstood products in your skincare routine. Although they’ve been used to moisturize skin since the dawn of time, these days a lot of women are steering well clear of them for fear they may clog their pores and tarnish their complexions with spots. While it is true that some oils could be problematic for the oiliest of skin types, facial oils have gone a long way in recent years and are now often so lightweight, they absorb immediately without leaving that tell-tale greasy residue behind.

The perfect example is Blossom Jeju Camellia Soombi Essence Oil, a hybrid treatment that’s as moisturizing as an oil and as lightweight as an essence. This is a feat that’s made possible by the use of camellia seed oil, one of the driest, fastest-absorbeing oils on the market today. Camellia seed oil has been used for centuries in Asian beauty treatments because of its intensely moisturizing and powerful anti-aging properties.

Camellia seed oil improves the appearance of the skin by making it softer and suppler, fights off the free radicals that speed up the formation of premature wrinkles, soothes inflammations and irritations and even increases the production of skin-firming collagen. The anti-aging properties of this oil are further enhanced by a blend of skin-friendly antioxidants, including salmon-derived astaxanthin and quercetin, and natural oils, including grape and olive oil.

The combination of dry natural oils and antioxidants makes for a luxurious and nourishing formula that absorbs instantly into the skin, protecting it from dehydration, photodamage and harmful environmental factors. It works by creating a barrier on the skin that keeps moisture in and intruders out of the skin, which is why I like to apply it just after a sheet mask treatment. I find Blossom Jeju Camellia Soombi Essence Oil locks in the essence of the sheet mask that’s still left on my skin, thus enhancing its effectiveness.

If my skin feels particularly dry and dehydrated, I mix a few drops of this oil with my favourite facial moisturizer to create a powerful antiaging concotion that supercharges my skincare routine and helps restore softness and suppleness to my skin quickly. Either way, this oils smoothes out the texture of my skin, reduces the appearance of my fine lines and gives my complexion a beautiful and healthy glow. It’s fast become one of my winter staples but, being so lightweight, I am sure I will get a lot of use out of it in the summertime, too.
