Harper’s Bazaar is, perhaps, the most sophisticated of all fashion magazines and an unmissable resource for modern women interested in the best that life has to offer. Since its very first edition, its amazing team of writers, photographers, artists and designers have consistently delivered new interesting perspectives and takes on the world of fashion, beauty and popular culture, gaining legions of fans in the process. Among its most prestigious devotees are celebrities, top CEOs and fashion masons, including Cartier.

To celebrate the magazine’s 150 anniversary, the French jewellery house has thrown a party at the Ritz Hotel, the most refined setting for a summer evening soiree. I was delighted to have received an invitation to this exclusive event, which was also attended by the crème of British society and its talents, including Samatha Cameron and Chris Robshaw, one of England’s most famous rugby players. Between a glass of champagne and a gossiping chat, we all stopped to admire the beautiful illustrations, penned by the likes of Erte’ and Andy Warhol, that adorned the covers and pages of the magazines at the beginning of its history.

Also on display were the striking covers captured by the most sought-after photographers in the world, such as Diane Arbus, Richard Avedon and Patrick Demarchelier, in most recent years. It was fascinating to see how the trends have changed and evolved throughout these 150 years. Yet, there is one thing that has always stayed the same: the high standards of the editors, who keep delivering incredible quality month after month.

During the event, Justine Picardie, the British editor of the Harper’s Bazaar UK, gave a brief speech highlighting the success stories of the magazines, thanked us for all our support throughout the years and urged us to make the most of the night. The other guests and I didn’t need to be told twice: when fashion and culture mix, the party’s always guaranteed to be a blast!
