iope enzyme powder treatment wash

If you’ve been following the latest Korean skincare trends, you’re probably heard of enzyme exfoliants. A new alternative to traditional exfoliating acids and scrubs, enzymes derived from papaya (papain) and yeast (lipase and keratinase) gently sweep away dead skin cells and excess sebum without leaving any signs of irritation behind. As a result, these enzymes leave skin smoother, shrink the appearance of large pores and impart a radiant glow to the complexion.

Following on the success of enzyme exfoliants, Korean skincare brands have recently launched a new type of product that has the potential to revolutionize the way we cleanse our faces: enzyme powdered cleansers. Enzyme powdered cleansers come in the form of chalky powders that transform into lightweight liquids when mixed with water. Once on the skin, they remove every last trace of grime, excess sebum and dead skin cells in one swift go. Not only this leaves your face squeaky clean and ready to receive the skincare products you apply next, but it also cuts one step out of your night-time skincare routine.

My favourite enzyme powdered cleanser is Iope Enzyme Powdered Treatment Wash, a white powder that foams nicely once it comes in contact with water. I use it at the second stage of my double cleansing routine in the place of a foaming cleanser, massage it well on my skin for a couple of minutes before rinsing it off with lukewarm water.

When I apply toner afterwards, my cotton pad is perfectly clean, a definitive sign that the cleanser has completely removed all the impurities on my face. On top of it, my complexion has taken on a subtle glow while the texture of my skin is a little smoother both to the touch and naked eye, so that my fine lines and large pores look a little bit smaller. I’ve also noticed that, right after application, my sebaceous glands tend to produce less oil than they naturally would, which, in turns, helps me to keep breakouts at bay.

Like this weren’t enough, this daily exfoliation has the ability to supercharge your entire skincare routine. By removing the superficial layer of dead cells on top of the skin, all the lotions and potions you apply afterwards will be able to penetrate the epidermis much more easily, ensuring the delivery of their nourishing nutrients where they can benefit your skin the most.

What I didn’t expect, though, was the added burst of hydration the cleanser delivered to my skin. Usually, because of the nature of their job, cleansers tend to dry out the skin a little bit, which is why every woman in Korea strives to apply a hydrating toner within literally 10 seconds of washing their faces. This enzyme powdered cleanser, on the other hand, left my skin feeling soft and hydrated for hours afterwards.

I am completely blown away by enzyme powdered cleansers and I firmly believe we will see a lot more of this unique technology in the near future!
